Booking.com pricing models and how to switch between them
There are different ways your properties can send prices to Booking.com, and we’ve recently made it easier for you to switch them from one pricing model to another.
This flexibility helps your properties maximise their performance by letting them tailor their offering to a specific guest segment or market.
What pricing models does Booking.com support?
To help your properties make the most of their business, we support three main pricing models:
- Standard pricing
- Occupancy-based pricing (OBP)
- Length of Stay (LOS) pricing
Standard pricing
With Standard pricing, properties can set one rate for a room, regardless of its occupancy and length of stay.
Example: Standard pricing for a Deluxe Double Room is €57 for 1 or 2 guests.
However, this property could further boost its performance by adopting Solo rates. This means for the same double room (max. occupancy of 2 guests), they could set a reduced price for 1 guest and appeal to solo travellers searching for a place to stay.
Example: Solo rate set-up for the same Deluxe Double Room
Occupancy-based pricing (OBP)
With this model, properties can set prices based on how many guests will stay. So a quadruple room that accommodates max. 4 guests can have different rates for 4, 3 and 2 guests.
Example: Occupancy-based pricing set-up for a Quadruple Room
OBP offers guests the best value and helps properties to be flexible and maximise conversion.
Length of Stay (LOS)
This model allows properties to set prices based on how many nights a guest stays – the longer the stay, the better the rate.
For example, if the regular rate for 1 night is $100, a property could create another rate that is 10% cheaper for each additional night booked.
So, 2 nights would cost $190 ($100 for the first night + $90 for the second night), 3 nights would cost $271 ($100 for the first night + $90 for the second night + $81 for the third night).
How to switch between different pricing models
We recently introduced an easier, faster way to switch your properties between different pricing models. It’s a smart self-service tool, so you won’t need any support or have to wait for any confirmation from us.
Learn more about the tool here, or go to the ‘Property’ tab in the Partner Portal.
