Each property can configure taxes, fees and charges as included or excluded. This might depend on the regulations for the country where they are, or it could just be because at that particular property, they always charge for towels, for example.
Charges marked as ‘included’ will be part of the total reservation price in the XML message.
Charges marked as ‘excluded’ are not part of the total reservation price in the XML message, although those charges are included in the confirmation email send to the guest.
For example, let’s imagine a property has ‘Tax/charges’ specified as follows:
A guest makes a reservation at a rate of €100. The price loaded in the extranet is 100, so the XML message for that reservation will include the following:
On the Booking.com extranet, the price breakdown will appear as follows:
The total room price is part of the calculation for the commission that the property needs to pay to Booking.com.
