Each property can configure taxes, extra fees and charges as included or excluded. This configuration might depend on their specific country regulations, or perhaps because that particular property has an extra charge for towels, for example.
Charges marked as ‘included’ will be part of the total reservation price in the XML message.
Charges marked as ‘excluded’ are not part of the total reservation price in the XML message, although those charges are included in the confirmation email sent to the guest.
For example, let’s imagine a property has ‘Tax/charges’ specified as below:
A guest makes a reservation at a rate of €100. The price loaded in the extranet is 100, so the XML message for that reservation will include the following:
On the Booking.com extranet, the price breakdown will appear as follows:
The total room price is part of the calculation for the commission that the property needs to pay to Booking.com.
From the guest’s side, they’ll see the room price and extra charges listed together in the summary during the reservation process, since they have to pay everything as a whole (regardless if fees are included or excluded in the room price):
This information is reflected in the confirmation email that is sent as soon as they confirm their booking:
You might also find useful to activate the include_price_details feature in your Provider Portal to view extra price information in your XML messages.
