What is a test property?
A test property is a simulated profile that can be created in our system. It’s not a real property, but it has most of the same features and functionalities that real properties do – it’s just not available to book on the website. This then allows you to check various functions of the system without having to use a real property.
How can I create a test property?
How you create one depends on whether you would like to implement our content API or not.
If you would like to implement our content API, you’ll need to follow these steps:
- Contact your Account Manager or our support team in your region to activate content API calls for your account.
- Create a test property with Target=“Test” in the XML request. Then you can create a room, rate and product for the test property.
- Input rates and availability for your test property.

If you are a non-content API provider, you’ll need to contact the Booking.com Connectivity Support team for your region. Click here to find out how.
Once I have a test hotel, how can I make test reservations?
To make a test reservation, copy and paste the following link into your browser, replacing ‘xxxx’ with the property ID for your test property:
https://secure.booking.com/book.html?hotel_id=xxxx&test=1
In the credit card field, select ‘Mastercard’, with credit card number ‘5346330641608164’, and CVC ‘123’. For the expiry date, you can select any date in the future.
Please note that in order to make a test reservation, you’ll need to make sure that both rates and availability are loaded, and that any restrictions are correctly configured.
